The First Pillar: Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation

For over 90 years, American Legion has been devoted to advocating for the wellbeing and entitled benefits of our esteemed veterans. With our pivotal role in establishing the Veterans Administration in 1930 and unwavering support in its evolution into the Department of Veterans Affairs in 1989, we ensure that the VA is equipped to fulfill its crucial mission of serving our veterans. As the dynamic relationship between the VA and veterans continues to evolve, American Legion remains firmly committed to assisting the VA in achieving its essential objectives. By closely collaborating with Congress, our purpose is to develop and endorse legislation that enhances the lives of veterans and their families, striving to create sustainable benefits and support systems for those who selflessly served our nation. Our unwavering efforts are deeply rooted in our dedication to honor the sacrifices made by our veterans and to ensure they receive the care and support they truly deserve.
