The American Legion Post Color Guard and Honor Guard proudly represent our Post. The Color Guard presents and protects the Colors at public events, while the Honor Guard provides dignified military honors for veterans. Together, they uphold our traditions and honor those who served.

Honor Guard - Purpose & Role
The American Legion Post Honor Guard provides solemn and dignified military-style honors for veterans, including funeral and memorial services, special ceremonies, and tributes. Their mission is to honor the service and sacrifice of those who served, upholding the traditions and values of the American Legion.
The Honor Guard has a broader ceremonial mission, often focused on tribute, respect, and ceremonial honors. These units may perform duties that go beyond the posting of colors.
Key Functions of an Honor Guard:

Conducts ceremonial honors at memorials, funerals, and commemorative events

Provides escorts for dignitaries or special guests

Executes rifle salutes, casket details, and other ceremonial elements (depending on organization type)

Color Guard - Purpose & Role
The American Legion Post Color Guard proudly carries, presents, and protects the Colors at parades, ceremonies, and community events. Through precise drill and proper flag etiquette, the Color Guard symbolizes patriotism and represents the Post with dignity and respect at every public appearance.
The Color Guard is responsible for the display, protection, and proper posting of the national and organizational colors (flags). Their primary mission is ceremonial, ensuring flags are carried and presented with dignity and precision.
Key Functions of a Color Guard:

Presents and posts the national, state, and organizational flags at ceremonies and events

Leads parades with the colors
